Rachel Hoolahan is Associate Director at Orms, where she leads the practice's sustainability consultancy. Rachel has spearheaded research into materials passports, contributing significantly to the firm’s focus on material reuse and sustainable refurbishment. She leads a UK-wide materials passports working group, collaborating with over 100 professionals to develop accessible methodologies for material reuse. In collaboration with University of Lancaster, she published a policy paper in January 2024 on the topic. Rachel's work is exemplified in Orms’ deep refurbishment of 75 London Wall, a project that set ambitious targets for material reuse and sustainable development. As an active member of the 20th Century Society’s Casework committee, she also advocates for the conservation and adaptive reuse of post-war architecture. Rachel’s expertise extends to involvement with UKGBC, LETI, and EU-funded initiatives, emphasising her commitment to driving industry-wide change. The practice have recently certified as a BCorp, and are Silver sponsors of the UKNZCBS, having supported the technical development through a secondment.
