Richard became interested in London’s Green Belt when he was elected as the Councillor for an entirely Green Belt ward in the London Borough of Bromley in the early 1970s.

The ward he represented was the only single-councillor ward in the London Boroughs and consisted of 15 square miles of Green Belt.

The London Green Belt Council represents over 100 organisations in London’s Green Belt and Richard has been Chair for 5 years.
