Tom is an architect, educator, and researcher specialising in sustainability and the decarbonisation of the built environment.
He joined the London Borough of Merton through the Public Practice Associate Programme in 2023. His role sits at the intersection of climate change, planning policy, and regeneration, where he designs and delivers programmes and policy initiatives to support the borough in achieving its net-zero targets.
Prior to this, Tom worked as a Project Architect in the North East and was an Associate Lecturer in Architecture at Newcastle University, where he led a design studio exploring creative reuse and climate resilience in the built environment.
In addition to his architectural training, Tom holds an MRes in Engineering (Future Infrastructure & Built Environment) from the University of Cambridge where his research explored opportunities for locating economies of scale in UK domestic energy retrofit.
