Yalena brings over 20 years of experience in delivering digital and data-driven programmes within the built environment, spanning housing, transport, infrastructure, buildings, and cities. Her expertise includes developing and implementing data and digital strategy, software and IoT product development, cybersecurity frameworks, and digital twins, working with a mix of public and private sector clients. At Buro Happold, Yalena is a Director of Digital Advisory providing services tailored to the urban context – covering strategy, design, delivery, and analytics. She champions a people-first approach to innovation, recognising the unique value that diversity contributes to tackling the complex challenges across our cities. 

Prior to joining Buro Happold, Yalena was director of Applied Data and Technology at the Connected Places Catapult - the UK’s innovation accelerator for cities and transport, focusing on digital transformation in the built environment, transport, utilities and infrastructure. Yalena has acted as a strategy adviser to the UK government and provides ongoing expertise to the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology via the College of Experts.
