Join NLA as we explore Shoreditch, London’s creative urban neighbourhood with an ever-changing supply of start-ups, independent cafes, underground clubs, event spaces and pop-up retail. Discover an area of east London undergoing unprecedented transformation through infrastructure, innovation and mixed-use development.
For years, redundant service-yard shacks, factories and workshops in rubbish-strewn alleyways along the Shoreditch to Islington route accommodated innovative creatives in makeshift low-rent offices. In the last decade, with new transport facilities installed, this sought-after vibrant route now claims to be London’s fastest evolving live/work hub - attracting major companies on the cusp of moving into transformational architecture now lining the old high streets.
While retracing some remaining influential historic origins, this walk features work by Foster + Partners, Orms, Adjaye Associates, AHMM and Tonkin Liu among others.
