Can Hostile Vehicle Mitigation improve the public realm?

Talk

Tuesday 21 February 2023
08:30 - 09:30

What is Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) and how can we use the CPNI’s recommendations when designing spaces for people?
How can we assess risk and make informed decisions about the management of risk?
What is the role of design and the responsibility of designers in making safer spaces?

The Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI) have recently released a third edition of the guide titled ‘Public Realm Design Guide for Hostile Vehicle Mitigation’ which seeks to inform those responsible for Hostile Vehicle Mitigation and places emphasis on the role of design.

The guide encourages built environment practitioners to include HVM as an integrated element within public realm design from the outset of a project and provides the tools to do so.

Join us for an informative NLA Breakfast Talk where the project team will present the guide and experts will discuss its implementation.
