Join this NLA Study Tour to hear from Child Graddon Lewis on 300 Harrow Road, a residential-led, mixed use scheme.
A residential-led, new mixed-use scheme for Westminster City Council in North Paddington, 300 Harrow Road is an estate regeneration project that addresses a severe need for new affordable housing by the Council. Comprising of three new blocks that scale up to 16-storeys, the scheme delivers 112 genuinely affordable homes, a nursery, new community centre, canal-side café, and start-up office space.
The scheme, designed by architects Child Graddon Lewis and delivered by Willmott Dixon Construction, was changed mid-construction by the freshly elected Labour council from being 50% for private sale to 100% affordable rent – with the majority available at social rent.
“The completion of Harrow Road is a momentous step in creating truly affordable, energy-efficient, family-sized homes which are vital for our residents in Westminster. Previously only 17 homes were going to be for social rent under this scheme and we increased this to 77 new homes for social rent and 35 for intermediate rent.
“The investment in facilities for the local community will also transform the area and provide benefits for local people for years to come. This is how we’re building a fairer city – creating the same opportunities for all our residents.”
Cllr Matt Noble, Climate Action, Regeneration & Growth, Westminster City Council
