Join us for the study tour of Holborn Viaduct and visit a project site of a 12-storey purpose-built student accommodation development in the heart of the City of London.
The visit will begin with an introduction from façade contractor Staticus and McAleer & Rushe , sharing the design intent behind the project, the key technical challenges, and the solutions developed to deliver its complex façade.
The focus is set to review the process of installing unitised curtain wall, view how does GRC panels, anodic aluminium fins, stainless-steel mesh, and bespoke glazed terracotta looks like.
The project is made particularly challenging by what lies beneath it. The development sits above the former Snow Hill station, an active Thameslink railway, a Central Line branch and extensive underground infrastructure. These constraints have made 61–65 Holborn Viaduct one of London’s most complex construction sites, and provide an interesting case study in how architectural ambition, façade engineering and buildability are brought together within an exceptionally constrained urban environment.
Please bring your own PPE if you have it, including safety boots, a hi-vis vest and a hard hat. If you do not have any of these items, please let us know on the booking form and we will do our best to source the required sizes.
Please note the capacity for this event is very limited and therefore tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis, with a maximum of 2 per organisation.
