See how London has grown, and discover what could shape it next, in a free 30-minute talk at The London Centre.

Using NLA’s models of London, this lunchtime talk traces the city’s development from Roman times to today. Get a bird’s-eye view of the capital, explore why it looks the way it does, and learn about the people and projects shaping its future.

The London Centre is NLA’s free public gallery. Its models help Londoners and visitors explore the city’s past, present and future, and see plans for its development.

At 12.5 metres long, the 1:2000 scale London model covers more than 85 square kilometres, including around 170,000 buildings and 34 kilometres of the Thames. It stretches from King’s Cross to Lewisham, and from Barking and Dagenham to Old Oak Common and Wembley.

The 1:500 City Model offers a closer look at the Square Mile. Scale replicas of buildings in and around the City of London show how its skyline is evolving.

Access

There are two ways of entering the London Centre: either up 3 steps with a handrail on either side, or via a platform lift. There are gender-neutral and accessible toilets on the lower ground floor, which can be accessed via a flight of stairs or lift.
