New London Architecture

CLOSED: Factory-made Housing: a solution for London?

Start: 10 October 2019 - 00:00
End: 18 January 2019 - 00:00

The Bldg Centre, 26 Store St, London WC1E 7BT, UK

With the current big push on factory-made housing, what opportunities and challenges does this present the future of housing in London? How are we employing innovative models of construction and delivery to meet the 66,000 homes needed each year?

From innovative methodologies, intelligent systems and the supply chain, this exhibition explores how factory methods are transforming how we deliver homes in the capital. How can London achieve a truly ‘modular mindset’ and fully embrace factory-based methods to improve the delivery, sustainability and quality of London’s housing demands?

Roundtables, viewpoints and interviews, have been combined with a call out for projects to produce this piece of research into factory-made housing. The outcomes of this have formed a publication, this exhibition and a series of events.
