NLA is pleased to partner with thought-leadership practice Future Places Studio to release three new reports on what's shaping London’s built environment industry today.
NLA are pleased to announce a new partnership with the research and thought-leadership practice Future Places Studio. During 2025, NLA will work with Future Places Studio to release three research reports, each of which will tackle some of the most pertinent topics impacting and shaping London's built environment sector today. Future Places Studio is a long-term research collaborator of NLA, and this partnership will ensure that NLA remains leading the sector in developing new collective solutions for London.
The research topics to be undertaken by Future Places Studio during 2025 are:
Skills for Places
The future of the built environment depends on its people. What knowledge and skills are essential for the future? Are our educational efforts creating the professional teams of tomorrow? How are we increasing access and diversity into the industry – what are the pathways available and how do they differ?
Adaptive Reuse
Embracing a retrofit-first approach, how are commercial buildings being repurposed? What are the main barriers to adaptive reuse? What is required for a successful retrofit and how can retrofit create vibrant, mixed-use places that seamlessly integrate with existing neighbourhoods? You can find out more about our Adaptive Reuse research
here Public Housing: New Estate Regeneration
How are local authorities and their partners tackling the scale of the retrofit challenge and seizing new funding opportunities to regenerate housing estates? How can we achieve this at pace and price?
