NLA Nights at One Crown Place

Tuesday 30 April 2019

On Tuesday 30 April over 100 NLA members gathered for drinks and networking at One Crown Place. The latest installment of the popular NLA Nights was hosted by CBRE, as part of the NLA Tall Buildings programme.

The One Crown Place scheme, due to complete in 2021, is a mixed-use development on the border of the City of London. Alongside six new floors of office and retail and two residential towers, the scheme will also include a refurbished office building and six Georgian townhouses which are being restored and converted into a hotel. The development was designed by KPF, with interiors from Bowler James Brindley and Studio Ashby.

Speeches were given by Henry Robinson, Development Director, CBRE, who said: “It feels like this development always wanted to be here. We truly believe that great design brings value, and if we really challenge each other the result is incredible design.”

John Bushell, Principal at KPF, gave a summary of the design of the project, saying: ‘The building really reflects the fact that each element has had a strong voice throughout the design process - whether resi, retail or hotel. There was a solid collaboration with CBRE throughout.”

Finally, Colin Stanbridge, ex-CEO at LCCI, gave a brief summary of market predictions regarding Brexit, stating: “Unless they get to the next stage, they’re in danger of losing Brexit. There could be another 5/6 yrs of uncertainty. When it comes to tall buildings, the skills shortage Brexit may bring to the industry could be a real threat”.
