Martyn Evans

Martyn Evans is Creative Director at Landsec, one of the UK’s largest property development and investment companies. His career began in the mid-1990s in London’s East End, working on the redevelopment of The Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane. That role, delivering a highly creative development programme, helped establish one of London’s most successful and valuable creative quarters and led to a near 30-year career at Cathedral Group—later U+I following its 2015 merger with Development Securities—and subsequently at Landsec following its acquisition of U+I in 2021.

In 2017, Martyn took a three-year sabbatical as Development Director at the 1,200-acre historic Dartington Hall Estate in Devon, leading a programme to review housing across the rural community on and around the estate.

At Landsec, Martyn is responsible for the creative strategies underpinning the FTSE 100 company’s purpose-driven, residential-led regeneration portfolio. This includes major schemes in Manchester (Mayfield and MediaCity) and London (O2 Finchley Road and Lewisham Town Centre) with the potential to deliver 6,000 homes.

Outside his full-time role, Martyn is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects, an advisor to incoming RIBA President Chris Williamson, and a visiting lecturer at institutions including The Bartlett and Manchester School of Architecture. He is Chair of the London Festival of Architecture and founder of the Young Architects and Developers Alliance (YADA). He has served as a jury member for the RIBA Regional Awards, AJ Small Projects, Architect of the Year, NLA and Estates Gazette Awards, and writes a regular column for BDOnline.
