The City Planning team comprises a cohesive and integrated unit of Policy, Strategy, Development Management, Design, Sustainability, Transport, Access, Data and Information, and Planning Obligations. The team is a rich ecosystem of apprentices, graduates, planning assistants, planning officers up to senior managers. 

The team is an inclusive, diverse, proactive, pro-Growth focussed team, proud high-profile ambassadors of inclusivity, equality and social mobility, celebrating and promoting Planning as a force for transformational good. The City Planning team's defining ethos is a positively solution focussed and collaborative team, embracing change and growth with an appetite for risk, research innovation and being radical and challenging perceptions and assumptions. 

The focus is on developing City planners from apprentice and graduates and ensuring under-represented communities have equitable opportunities. This has resulted in a transformation in the team’s composition with women planners now the majority with 17 countries from 6 continents and 12 languages represented in the team, reflecting London’s rich diversity. Our colleague’s Hindi language film on City planning is the City of London’s most popular on its YouTube channel! 

The team champions and is committed to deliver the New London Agenda’s “Six Pillars of Placemaking” to delivering a prosperous, sustainable and equitable City of London.
