A Common Plan for Claridge Way

Built

Peabody's Common Plan for Claridge Way is a strategy for transforming a neighbourhood green space in Thamesmead, conceived and realised in creative partnership with the people who live there.

NEW LONDON AWARDS 2021

Shortlisted in the PLACEMAKING category and for the COMMUNITY Prize
Claridge Way is a green artery running through the Moorings, Thamesmead. We worked with community groups, residents and schools through workshops, a giant tea party and virtual reality sessions to define their ideas for their neighbourhood green space. In collaboration with contractors, fabricators, schoolchildren and their parents, we realised a set of linked  interventions, including:

- benches for seating and body weight exercises
- fences, back gates and planters for residents
- a school gardening club
- 800m of playful line markings
- a woodland adventure walk
- a wildflower bee road
