A House For A Film Maker

Built

Cor-Ten steel wraps around the folded roof, which celebrates the extended dining and kitchen spaces. The angled glazing allows the family to enjoy changing the light throughout the day.

An unloved house bought from the council and restored piece by piece. The main event is a side extension, conceived as a folded piece of rusty steel. It is, in reality, a timber frame roofed in EPDM and finished with a Cor-Ten rainscreen fabricated by a local shop in Tottenham. The roof and walls are punctured with Maxlight rooflight, made in Acton.  The window seat is a rooflight mounted vertically.

In the name of supreme economy, the kitchen is made from standard IKEA units (from IKEA Tottenham) finished in birch ply and Fenix by a local joinery shop in Walthamstow.
