All Change at Bank

Built

The All Change at Bank project reprioritises space for people walking, wheeling and cycling at Bank Junction alongside an enhanced public realm, including seating and greening.

The All Change at Bank project represents a bold move from vehicular dominance to pedestrian priority with narrower carriageways, wider pavements and enhanced areas of public space. The area above Bank Station, once seen as a key vehicle route through the City of London, has become a more inclusive and welcoming space. Following the successful timed bus and cycle only restrictions in 2017, the space has been rebalanced in favour of the large volumes of people walking, wheeling and cycling.

This project is featured alongside our Public London: Activating the City insight study. The publication, exhibition and online project directory explore what constitutes a successful and democratic public realm today, the role of co‑creation and partnerships, and how we can ensure that places are fit‑for‑purpose in the long term.
