The ambition for the project was to maximise low ceilings to the rear ground floor and limited head height in the loft. The client wanted to preserve the original character of the main house and compliment it with modern new interventions. An ambitious structural design allowed us to open up the rear with dynamic triangulated forms that allowed the rear annex to float over the kitchen. Plywood joists and indirect lighting maximises the feeling of space in the loft with full height glazing to maximise the views over Londons rooftops.
