Shortlisted in the HOUSING category

The project received planning permission from Lewisham council for the redevelopment of a brownfield site on Besson Street within the Kender Triangle New Cross that has laid vacant for the last 10 years.

The mixed-use scheme will comprise 324 build to rent units, a new GP Surgery, pharmacy, community space, flexible retail and commercial floorspace. It will also deliver a significant amount of public realm including a new outdoor exercise circuit.

Lewisham Council who owns the site formed Lewisham Grainger Holdings a JV company with Grainger plc following a developer architect competition in 2017 to deliver a Build to Rent scheme on Besson Street.

In Lewisham the private rented sector (PRS) has doubled in size in the past ten years and around 25% of Lewisham’s population now rents privately. Lewisham Grainger Holdings aims to create a more sustainable PRS environment in the borough and set a new standard for housing management and customer service.

Vote for this project in the ‘People’s Choice Award’. The voting deadline is 1 November 2022.
