NEW LONDON AWARDS 2021

Shortlisted in the EXPERIENCING CULTURE category
In its bicentenary year, Brixton Windmill’s cultural ambassadors Eley Kishimoto - along with Friends of Windmill Gardens and Lambeth Council – asked Squire & Partners to design an education and community centre to support a range of activities and events hosted by the Grade II*-listed landmark. Conceived as a simple and beautiful timber framed space, the new building offers a self-sustaining future for the working windmill and supports the generosity of Friends of Windmill Gardens. The centre is a symbol of hope for windmills everywhere – celebrating their sustainable role in communities.
