Build Up Hackney is a 580 sqm public space designed and built by local young people. Located in a busy high street location, the project has created an inclusive and welcoming space for the whole community. The project features a circular civic space with integrated swings and seating at different heights and sizes, a wildflower meadow, and a playful boarder of vertical timber sleepers with integrated handmade cast-iron artworks featuring positive messages to Hackney. Situated in a rapidly changing area of London, the project aimed to give young people a genuine say over their built environment.
