The clients immediately loved this dilapidated house, recognising great potential though it needed complete refurbishment.

There are now dramatic views from the hall down to the lush jungly garden, through a glazed double-height space. A sculptural steel stair leads to the lower living space which has been transformed from dark, cellular rooms into a large light space, with minimal visible structure; just four slender columns. A wall of thin framed sliding doors opens to the garden.

All floors are reconfigured, the top storey is now double height, and is lit by a large triangular skylight.
