Located in the heart of Camden, Charlie Ratchford Court includes 38 extra care apartments innovatively designed to support later living and those in need of additional support and care. The scheme incorporates a café, wellbeing suite, community garden and activity spaces, all designed to create a hub for the local community; encouraging socialisation and interaction. The health and wellbeing of residents is at the centre of the design. Open galleries are used for circulation which allows apartments to be dual aspect and benefit from natural light and cross ventilation. The open gallery design also allows for visual connections with the local community. Each apartment has a generous private balcony which can be transformed into a winter-garden. The combination of high-quality design and carefully chosen materials has resulted in a six-storey building that is contemporary, respectful of its historic context and in keeping with Camden housing typologies.
