Shortlisted in the MEANWHILE category
An agile kit-of-parts for meaningful civic engagement in Croydon; providing a platform for events and exhibition in familiar locations of exchange such as shopfronts and the high street.

The Croydon ‘Urban Room’ is pioneering a new type of meaningful council engagement, in the form of an agile kit-of-parts which facilitates learning, exhibition and events about the past, present and future of Croydon. The custom made, flexible design is purposefully domestic in scale; facilitating intimate ‘living room’ events in familiar locations of exchange such as high streets, markets, libraries and shopfronts. Seeking to engage new audiences and activate public spaces, the project sets up a ‘live feedback loop’ between council and the public that is accessible and part of everyday life.
