Shortlisted in the MEANWHILE category

The Isle of Dogs will see some of the densest developments in the UK come forward over the next 15 years. The area has been identified by LBTH as one in which change should be managed to secure the delivery of benefits for the local and incoming communities.

The DLR is an important piece of infrastructure in the area. It not only keeps the area connected but the 2 ha of space under its tracks hold the potential to be developed as open public space, connecting people while aiding growth.

To support this vision, LBTH Regeneration Team created the ‘DLR Underline Activation’ project in early 2021, to test how new temporary uses on this constrained site, could enable its longer-term transformation.

In collaboration with the DLR, landlords and local stakeholders, the Team planned and delivered a series of small events on site from September 2021 to May 2022. These were free of charge and open to all and offered opportunities to engage in creative activities and cultural events.

Vote for this project in the ‘People’s Choice Award’. The voting deadline is 1 November 2022.
