We transformed a historic artist studio into a three-bedroom family home. Our response is unashamedly modernist - an inherently simple, pragmatic design with extensive use of structural glazing.

Distinct artistic communities were established in late Victorian times and this property is located in the heart of one of the most important enclaves in Chelsea. Our brief to was to convert the one-bedroom city pad into a three-bedroom family home whilst retaining its unique character – uncompromising functional design. The fundamental design move retains the large open central space with the exposed delicate tensile roof structure. This was made possible through the extensive use of structural glazing to create a glass staircase and bridge connecting the two first-floor bedrooms.
