The full refurbishment of a double fronted Victorian villa with new top floor and full width rear extension. A new triple height atrium and staircase floods the house with light from above.

Our clients initially thought a basement might be their only option to extend due to planning constraints. We have cleverly reconfigured the space, adding an extra 122 sqm of new floor space without the expense of a basement dig.

The existing staircase formed a narrow route to the rear, so our key change internally was moving the stairs to the side, creating a view through the house and a light-filled triple-height atrium leading to the full width rear extension beyond. The new top floor has added two bedrooms and bathroom, accessed from a new balcony landing from the central atrium.
