North London Heat and Power Project

Built

This project redevelops Edmonton EcoPark to generate low-carbon electricity from waste, expand north London's recycling, and increase public knowledge in waste management.

The NLHPP is transforming Edmonton EcoPark into a hub for waste, recycling, and energy. Run by the North London Waste Authority the Resource Recovery Facility will increase recycling, the Energy Recovery Facility, will divert waste from landfill and generate power, and the off-grid EcoPark House, will support the education outreach of this critical infrastructure. These publicly-owned facilities, will support two million residents in seven London boroughs.

This project is featured as a project in RePower London: Infrastructure for Growth. The report, exhibition, and accompanying online project directory examine the critical infrastructure needed to support London's growth and resilience. We explore the role of innovation, collaboration, and sustainable design in shaping the city's future, with a focus on ensuring that London remains fit-for-purpose, equitable, and competitive in the long term.
