The high cost of on-street charging hinders EV adoption in less affluent areas. JOLT addresses this by offering affordable on-street charging, encouraging EV use, reducing air pollution, and mitigating health inequalities related to respiratory diseases, heart conditions, and cancer.

Compared to the rest of the UK, a disproportionate number of Londoners do not have access to off-street parking. This first-of-a-kind project in the UK makes it possible for Londoners without off-street parking to choose an EV for their next vehicle by significantly reducing the costs of on-street public charging and bringing them more in line with what those who can charge at home pay.

This project has been a collaborative effort and a rewarding experience. We are grateful for the invaluable support from our partners at the London Borough of Barnet. Their early recognition of the immense benefits of the JOLT, both in technology and commercial solutions, has been instrumental. Together, we are creating a future where choosing an EV is financially beneficial rather than detrimental, and this is the right way to drive the change we all want to see.

As with any change or anything new, the project faced some initial challenges from residents resistant to digital on-street advertising. However, we have learned that this initial opposition is soon replaced by support once we reach and communicate to residents and businesses the high social value and benefits that JOLT can bring to London’s urban high streets.
