New roof extension in a conservation area to accommodate a bright space-efficient master suite.

How can a compact roof extension provide a bright space-efficient master suite? How can a new cantilevered steel stair and fitted joinery give the house a unique character?

These are the questions we asked ourselves when we converted an altered butterfly roof to a mansard, creating additional space for a growing family. The compact form of the staircase maximises space and brings light down to the lower floors. The lowered floor structure provides more balanced room heights for the upper two floors. Bespoke fitted joinery declutters the master bedroom making efficient use of areas with a low ceiling.
