Rathbone Square

Built

Rathbone Square is a project that transforms the former Royal Mail site off of Oxford Street into a new publicly accessible garden square delivered by Gustafson Porter + Bowman.

Rathbone Square transforms the former Royal Mail site off Oxford Street into a new publicly accessible garden square. Gustafson Porter + Bowman has created a place to be enjoyed with attractive water features, art, a central lawn, rich planting that provides softness, colour and texture, and garden rooms of raised planters; all offering respite, contemplation, and relaxation from the activity of Oxford Street.

This project is featured alongside our Public London: Activating the City insight study. The publication, exhibition and online project directory explore what constitutes a successful and democratic public realm today, the role of co‑creation and partnerships, and how we can ensure that places are fit‑for‑purpose in the long term.
