A renovated Victorian terrace with a contemporary living space, that celebrates a controlled palette of materials. A cantilevered COR-TEN clad window box places the kitchen hob overhanging the garden.

The brief from the clients, one of whom is a retired furniture designer, was to create a unique living space that celebrated quality materials. The objective was the quality of the space rather than quantity. The scheme created a new kitchen-dining space, along with additional internal refurbishments, such as a new bathroom.

Two large new windows have been introduced to focus views to the previously poorly connected garden. A unique addition to the kitchen is a cantilevered box, which positions the hob over the garden with a bespoke yellow extractor and external chimney adding colour.
