St Mary’s Centre is a community centre abutting St Mary’s Stoke Newington, a Grade II* listed church designed by George Gilbert Scott, completed in 1856. The brief was to transform and extend the existing church rooms. The new building infills the courtyard area, retaining the structural elements of the 1996 rooms.
The non-denominational centre has a history of working with marginalised people, including a migrants’ centre, night shelter and food bank. The new centre integrates the listed building and creates a welcoming and inclusive place.
