A large family use a simple and bold gesture to create an incredibly generous living space in their conservation area Victorian house.

Built to the maximum size allowable, a two-storey extension to this conservation area property creates a generous and multi-levelled space with double height void, suspended walkway and mezzanine. A large glass box above floods this new space with natural light and two sets of sliding doors frame views onto the new sunken patio and garden beyond.

A sensitive refurbishment of the rest of the main house extends throughout, with new physical and visual connections being made between the old and new spaces. A new master suite is provided at loft level.
