A pair of floating structures connected by a series of bridges, boardwalks and pontoons creating a new destination in the emerging Wood Wharf district developed by Canary Wharf Group.

The Water Pavilions are a distinctive pair of structures floating within the historic former West India Dock at Canary Wharf. The dock itself is the defining characteristic forming part of a sequence of urban routes and spaces into Wood Wharf, which, with a growing resident population, is being transformed into a more holistic part of the city.

The Pavilions are constructed on a bespoke floating concrete hull, above which is a lightweight steel framed building with two levels. The frame is clad in a transparent aluminium framed curtainwall with a detailed screen of extruded aluminium battens wrapping around the long elevations and extending to form balconies at either end. This provides light filled, open and flexible spaces which are being fitted out as restaurants/bars. Boardwalks and pontoons connect the pavilions to the dock.

Overall, the pavilions create an ephemeral presence, giving the impression of a highly crafted container of space sitting gently on the water.
