Shortlisted in the DWELLING category
Wolsey Mews is a new building in a conservation area in Kentish Town, comprising two family homes. The formerly derelict site has been skillfully and sustainably developed, and in doing so, the quality of the streetscape transformed. Behind a modest, subtly modulated facade, a complex, interlocking plan maximises space and responds to the constraints of the site with ease. The bold simplicity of the exterior carries through to the interior, with simply detailed, unexpectedly generous, light-filled internal spaces. It is an exemplar of what can be achieved on a small urban infill site.
