Precise planning: the role of digital technologies

Monday 24 January 2022

Perhaps of all the proposed reforms introduced by the government in their white paper, one that most would agree is a positive is the use of digital technology to make more information available to those involved in the process. Improved accurate online information would make planners’ job much easier and give more easily accessible information to those seeking to obtain planning permission related to a particular site. Also, with the digital transformation of map-based local plans and accessible online, local people will be able to engage with planning in their local area, which will help get homes built quicker.

So, what is the role of new digital technologies in planning? Can they improve existing planning policies? How can we make data more accessible, easy to understand, accurate and practical in order to improve the planning system?

This webinar presents the latest thinking around how new digital technologies can introduce opportunities to the planning system – from online consultations to precise digital modelling.
