Elettra Bordonaro
Elettra is co-founder and creative director at Light Follows Behaviour, a lighting design studio with the aim to design with people and for people. She is also co-founder of the Social Light Movement (SLM) with the aim to bring lighting to less affluent communities.
She has focused her attention on lighting design and associated research initiatives for over 15 years. As well as successfully delivering lighting masterplans, exterior and public realm lighting projects in the UK and abroad, Elettra has focused on design education and promoting forward thinking research initiatives relating to the design of cities after dark. She has led courses at the University of Rome, Milan and Turin and was visiting professor at Rhode Island School of Art and Design (RISD) in Providence, USA from 2014 until 2018.
Elettra is also Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics Sociology Department as part of the Configuring Light/Staging the Social research group working on various research projects integrating social research into lighting design. Her ‘Social Lightscapes Workshop’ program in association with Configuring Light was awarded an Honourable Mention at the 2020 Compasso d’Oro design awards in 2020.
