Lydia is an Architect at Threefold Architects with a passion for sustainable design and alternative living models. With four years’ professional experience, she combines a technical understanding of low-carbon construction with a creative, research-led approach to housing and workplace design. Her work embodies material experimentation, sustainable construction, and alternative housing models, all central themes to NLA’s NextGen focus on the future of city-making.
Her master’s thesis, Reinstating the Vernacular – A Materials Strategy for Affordable Housing, explored new applications of cob construction through Cobbauge, a contemporary earthen building technique for sustainable, affordable homes. At Threefold, Lydia is currently leading the detailed design and coordination of 172 co-living units and 7,500 sq ft of shared amenity space for PoHa Living in Düsseldorf, working closely with international consultant teams to develop product design guides and deliver high-quality, flexible interiors.
As Threefold’s Sustainability Champion, Lydia curates the practice’s sustainability CPD programme, undertakes carbon assessments, and oversees QMS sustainability reviews. She is actively engaged with the UKGBC and is currently working towards Passivhaus accreditation, advocating for innovation, collaboration and measurable environmental impact across the built environment.
