Coffee Conversations: Learning from New York - transforming Brooklyn Bridge Park

Talk

Tuesday 21 July 2026
12:00 - 13:00

Free

Join us to hear from Regina Myer about the creation of Brooklyn Bridge Park.

In the past two decades part of the Brooklyn, NYC waterfront has been transformed. A redundant industrial land is now Brooklyn Bridge Park, a beautiful riparian park stretching from Brooklyn Bridge, with places to run, stroll, sit, fish, play sport, to drink in the views of Manhattan and beyond.

This haven is a short walk from bustling Downtown Brooklyn, a mixed-use neighbourhood that embraces retail, universities, cultural icons and major public buildings, and ever-growing residential community with major high-rise developments popping up across the skyline.

Regina Myer, now President of Downtown Brooklyn Partnership and one of the principal leaders behind the creation of the park, will join Pat Brown for a Coffee Conversation about the ingredients of making change happen and what we can learn here in London.

With other roles including Brooklyn’s Borough Planning Director, and Hudson Yards, Regina has played a major part in NYC’s story and is steeped in the understanding of making cities work.

Coffee Conversations are about demystifying the built environment sector, sparking conversation across ages and sectors, helping build soft skills, confidence, and new ways of seeing the city - without it feeling like a formal workshop or networking session. We will kick off with a short overview of the topic before diving into a discussion.
