An event organised by The Bartlett and hosted by NLA to showcase their work with British Land and other various built environment professionals to challenge the possible.
This piece of work has been carried out by The Bartlett in partnership with the London Borough of Camden, British Land plc, architecture firms ARUP, Fletcher-Priest, AHMM and White Arkitekter and The Bartlett’s masters students. The brief asked the students to work with the four practices to produce propositions for change for Euston Road.
These were not meant to be detailed schemes that could be implemented. Instead, they were ideas that stretch the imagination of what might be possible at Euston Road. These concepts humanise and soften the impact of the road, introduce landscape and promote the pedestrian environment, especially pavements and crossings. They all have particular resonance given the realisation of ULEZ, TfL's championing of walking strategies and the ongoing debate on HS2. Although these are not advanced proposals, some of the ideas might be developed both within Euston Road and in other parts of London, alongside cities in the UK.
