Join this study tour to see how the former House of Fraser on Oxford Street is being reimagined with a retro-first approach into Elephant.
Due to open next year, this mixed-use development is designed for flexibility, adaptability and a low carbon footprint. The Art Deco original was designed for commercial ambition with a modern aesthetic to form new shopping habits. This progressive spirit inspires us today in the reimagining of the building. When complete it will be fit for the future, a new place to shop, as well as a workplace, gym and restaurant.
Exploring all areas, the tour will include the expansive new office lobby, basement end of trip facilities and gym, office floors, and then up to the rooftop terrace which will become a restaurant with stunning views across London. On the way up, we explore the retrofit approach, the fabric first strategy, conservation and restoration of the heritage facade with its distinctive, elegant fins and see how columns have been reused and recycled on the new build floors.
A short introductory presentation will be given by the architect and structural engineer before the site tour.
This tour will require PPE, please select whether you will bring your own PPE boots or if you require these to be provided (including shoe size) in the booking form.
