British Waterways, in partnership with H2O Urban Limited is planning to convert five Spits Barges as part of a wider initiative to revitalise the waterspace of London's Docklands.

The competition to re-model these barges is an opportunity to create an exemplar floating residential and commercial scheme that will challenge perceptions of waterspace design as well as delivering a sustainable and flexible live/work space. The winning schemes will be developed and delivered in a prominent location in the Isle of Dogs, as a showcase of innovation in waterspace development.

This exhibition celebrates the exciting concepts that have been submitted and shortlisted, as well as the winning designs. The competition entries demonstrate how creative design is essential to creating a living and active workspace in Docklands.
