New London Architecture

CLOSED: Public Housing: a London renaissance

Start: 16 May 2019 - 00:00
End: 18 July 2019 - 00:00

The Bldg Centre, 26 Store St, London WC1E 7BT, UK

The draft London Plan more than doubles the housing targets of some London boroughs, while the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government says that London needs to deliver 100,000 homes.

For the first time in decades, new homes are being built by London boroughs – with improved capabilities, partnerships, funding avenues and delivery mechanisms – seeking to respond to the housing crisis. Yet, this next generation of projects must successfully rehabilitate perceptions of public housing, and work more closely with communities and residents.

This exhibition shows how London boroughs are working to deliver high-quality, pleasant and affordable homes on estates, smaller sites and large-scale areas of regeneration across London, to create places that can also support the sustainable growth of the capital.
