Webinar

In this webinar, part of the Design Council's 'Design for planet' festival, join the panel as they discuss what the built environment industry expects from COP27.

This year's record-breaking temperatures, fires and floods have shown the urgent need for global action.

Building on the decisions and commitments of the COP26’s Glasgow Climate Pact, this year’s COP27, to be held in Egypt in November 2022, will need to find appropriate responses, and turn pledges into actions. Global climate action must accelerate in a fair and collaborative pathway by reducing emissions, scaling-up adaptation efforts and improving appropriate financing. Considering these challenges, what have been the successes and failures of COP26? What lessons can be learnt to empower decisions at COP27?

COP27 and the climate emergency represent both challenges and opportunities for countries and cities. What impact will potential government commitments have on UK cities and especially on London? How can we take greater ownership of this issue at a local level in the coming year?

Public and private sectors must work together to be more responsive. The built environment industry, one of the most emitting sectors, clearly also needs to address these issues.

In this webinar, speakers from all sectors will discuss and debate these issues, the objectives and expectations from the built environment industry for COP27, and the role it must play in the race against climate change.

This webinar will be held during COP27 and is part of the Design Council's 'Design for planet' festival.
