About the NLA NextGen Committee
The NLA NextGen network is an integral NLA network that supports and nurtures the development of emerging professionals. From a core NextGen Committee to monthly networking events, the programme aims to provide a space for emerging voices between 2-10 into their careers within the built environment sector to broaden networks, gain fresh perspectives and learn from peers from across the built environment sector.

The NLA NextGen Committee are the spokespeople for their network and an active working group. Recognising the central role rising voices play in shaping London’s future, the NextGen Committee support the NLA team to amplify the voices and needs of NextGen network, identifying opportunities to support career progression and skills, and action these through the NLA programme and beyond. From the moment of entrance to the sector, grow in and shift within.

Currently the committee are working on a piece of research titled ‘NextGen Rising: How London can back its emerging talent’ - a project that puts early-career professionals at the heart of London’s built environment agenda. The aim is to produce actionable recommendations that employers, educators and policymakers can use to unlock potential, close skills gaps, and ensure London’s built environment is a place where diverse talent can thrive.

The project will highlight exemplar initiatives already making a difference, while shining a light on the gaps and challenges that remain, and is framed around three urgent themes:

  • Genuinely inclusive workplace cultures
