An extension of Denys Lasdun's Grade II Listed building, transforming a 1980s office building into a flexible and generous modern workspace.

Originally designed by Sir Denys Lasdun, completing in 1983 as an office and client marketing centre for IBM, 76 Southbank was considered Lasdun’s last major work, and sits adjacent to the National Theatre. AHMM’s plans sensitively refurbish and extend the building delivering an additional 11,000m² of flexible and highly sustainable office space for an estimated 1,200 additional jobs.

The refurbishment and extension of 76 Upper Ground (the IBM Building) will provide 420,000sqft gross of office and retail space. The building, recently listed as Grade II, was designed by Sir Denys Lasdun and completed in 1983. It will be respectfully refurbished and extended based upon significant archive research into the history and architectural intent of the existing building, including referencing original design studies carried out by Lasdun.

The design will also deliver highly efficient and flexible modern day commercial office space of the highest sustainable standards, providing a long-term future for the listed building and significantly improving its setting within the local conservation area and river frontage.
