Beckenham Place Park is an extensive public open space and a local nature reserve located covering approximately 98ha. The redevelopment includes reinstatement of a historic lake, construction of a new carpark and conversion of the existing golf course to park land. Since its completion in July 2019, the lake has reconnected the community with the park, providing a place of beauty and tranquillity and thereby transforming the lives of today’s community as well as future generations.

This project is featured alongside our Public London: Activating the City insight study. The publication, exhibition and online project directory explore what constitutes a successful and democratic public realm today, the role of co‑creation and partnerships, and how we can ensure that places are fit‑for‑purpose in the long term.
