Shortlisted in the CULTURE category
Britannia Leisure Centre is a new leisure facility that is transforming health and wellbeing for the local community in Hackney. The project combines swimming pools, sports courts and gym facilities in an innovative stacked arrangement that encourages more people to participate in sport.

Britannia includes a 25m swimming pool, a training pool, toddler pool and splash deck, a gym, soft play area, creche and public café. Tennis courts and 5-a-side pitches are also provided on the rooftop.

The project was delivered as part of a wider masterplan, which includes new homes and a new secondary school and sixth form college for over 1,000 pupils. Britannia was designed with the local community from the outset, prioritising accessibility, social value and sustainability. The result is London’s most inclusive centre for community leisure.

Vote for this project in the ‘People’s Choice Award’. The voting deadline is 1 November 2022.
