Winner in the WELLBEING PRIZE and shortlisted in the LEARNING category
The Centre for Creative Learning (CCL) unlocks an overshadowed corner of the school to house a library and lush rooftop garden, carefully designed to nestle sensitively within its domestic scale setting.

The CCL ekes out a partly subterranean space to combine a lush biodiverse undulating garden and outdoor classroom at first floor, with informal learning in a curved book lined library, below. A variety of spaces are punctuated by overhead roof lights including reading dens for younger pupils, a long reading table for groups and high laptop desks for independent study. It promotes a culture of self-directed learning to foster pastoral relationships between year groups. The library provides a unique and nurturing space for pupils to read, interact and learn in the city.
